Thrifted Treasure Series Part 13 - Vintage Coffee Pots

If you're a coffee lover and a collector, vintage coffee pots can be a fun and rewarding item to collect. You can hunt for them at thrift stores, antique shops, flea markets, family cupboards, or online auctions.

You can focus on a particular brand, era, or style that resonates with your taste and interest; display them on shelves, cabinets, or racks that showcase their designs and history. Sharing your collection with your friends and family can spark conversations and memories. I have my parents percolator coffee pot that we used on camping trips!

What To Look For

When shopping for vintage metal coffee pots, look for styles that speak to you! Then…check for signs of damage such as rust or dents. If there are major imperfections…then you can pass…unless you simply love it…and then you can just call those imperfections…character!

Inspect the lid and handle for wear and tear—if either is loose or missing pieces, then it’s probably not worth investing in. Finally…consider how you will use it…is the size right for that function?

I like to use my coffee pots for vases…so…it’s important that they do not have holes in their bottoms!

Collections

Collections are nice in sets of three or five with each piece varying in height.

Handles

Part of the charm of these old coffee pots are the handles. Some are wood, bakelite, metal, and other materials depending on their age.

Accessories

Additional charming pieces can be found hidden inside the pot!

Lids and strainers can be used as extra decorative pieces in your collection. Lid handles are also made out of a variety of materials including glass!

Adding Flowers

Coffee pots make very interesting vases for summer or winter entertaining depending on the type of flower you use. You can keep it simple with just a few blooms….

…or make a full “hand picked” style arrangement.

Your coffee pots can be placed individually around your home or as a collection on your table.

If displaying them as a collection…choose a color palette and then add flowers with a variety of shapes and textures.

Mix and match flowers…Zinnias, pink double cosmos, and fresh basil. Yes! Basil! Herbs are good fillers for arrangements and add wonderful textures and aromas to your room.

If your garden herbs bolted from the summer heat…harvest them for flower arrangements!

Putting Them Together

Whether you're hosting an intimate dinner party or enjoying a cozy meal with your family, a vintage coffee pot collection can serve as a beautiful and practical centerpiece for your table.

Add a vintage tablecloth, crochet pieces, candles, baskets, and plates to complete the cozy and inviting display.

Additional Styling Ideas

Fill small coffee pots with kitchen brushes….

…use larger pots to hold craft and art supplies…

…fill them with cloth napkins for a fun and functional table decoration…or hand-towels in your kitchen or bathroom.

Gift Ideas

If you're looking for thoughtful and personal gifts for your loved ones, vintage coffee pots can be a perfect choice.

You can fill them with homemade cookies, chocolates, or tea bags, and wrap them in a vintage fabric, paper, or ribbon that adds a touch of elegance and nostalgia.

You can also customize them with a handwritten note, a postcard, or a photo that reflects your relationship and memories with the recipient.
