Angel Food Cake with Peppermint Whip Cream

This dessert is easy to make and looks fancy so it is a perfect holiday treat. The recipe is a family favorite and was often served by my Grandmother for birthday celebrations. She made angelfood cake from scratch but that is not a skill I inherited so I start with a pre-made cake.

Note: You can substitute peanut brittle for peppermints if you want a different flavor. This is my mother's preferred option and is still one of her favorite birthday treats.

What you need:
Angel food cake
16 oz Whipping cream
15 Peppermints for the cake and 3 peppermints for topping

Unwarp peppermints and crush them with a rolling pin

Whip the cream until it is fluffy and add powdered sugar to taste. Then add crushed peppermints to the whipped cream. Stir and let it sit in the refrigerator for a few hours. The peppermints will soften and add flavor to the whip cream. Stir again and spoon over the cake.

Top with remaining sprinkles and add a peppermint swirl or mini candy cane.

Slice and serve!

Note: You can make the whip cream a day ahead for easy hosting on the day of your gathering. Enjoy!
